The 2010 Seniors Captain is Stuart Padbury. He has succeeded Sam Bradbury and is looking forward to leading the Seniors Team this year. Stuart has been a member for 7 years and has played with the seniors for the last three. He recently retired from the postion of Club Secretary (to concentrate on more important things, like playing golf). Stuart said " I am really looking forward to next season playing in the matches. They are always played in the right spirit and hopefully we will get some decent weather. Thank you to Sam for doing a great job in 2009. (We will miss the jokes lol)"

The Seniors Section is very active, playing 14 local clubs on a home and away basis. The friendly league was set up largely due to the foresight of Fred Waywell in the 1990’s getting the Club to join a local group. The league is from Bury in the South, Colne in the East and Fishwick in the West and includes most of the neighbouring Clubs. A very civilised method of playing golf, competitive fourballs, good companionship, excellent courses, good food and all for relatively little cost (£6 at home and £8 away)

2010 Opening Day- Winner Pete Baildon 37 points - R/Up Stuart Padbury 35 points

3rd Dave Ashworth 34 points - 4th Alan Duckworth 33 point CPO

The presentation and meal were attended by Linda and Vic Heath, daughter and son-in-law of the late

Jack Maddox. They presented the club with a memorial bench which will be situated on the second tee.

The George Schofield Memorial Trophy, which is a replica of the famous Claret Jug, was donated by his family and is a much prized Trophy to win. Peter Schofield donates the prizes each year and the first winner was Eric Foster and Jack Maddox won the Trophy for the following four years. No one has successfully defended the title since. John Kenny won the 2009 competition.

The Seniors Knockout comps are very popular and very competitive. This year a new trophy was on offer for the Doubles. It was very generously donated by the daughter of Jack Maddox who incidentally lives in Canada. She wanted her fathers memory to live on at the Club and henceforth the Jack Maddox Memorial Trophy will be the prize for the winners. Terry Ward and Stuart Whittaker were the 2009 Doubles KO winners and the first to get their names on the Trophy Runners up were Ken Boland and Dave Nutter..

2009 saw the singles KO Trophy donated by John Burkes widow, the John Burke Memorial Trophy hotly contested. Ken Boland defended the Trophy after winninig it in 2008. He beat Stuart Padbury in the final on the 20th hole, a great final and a deserved winner.

Mick Hardman won the end of season competition with 39 points, with Fred Cosway the runner up with 38 points, in third place Sam Bradbury, Seniors Captain 37 points and in fourth place Bob Lowe with 35 points on a card playoff. The Turkey Shoot was played over 16 holes and was won by Richard Hartley with 39 points, beating Alan Duckworth into second place on a card playoff. In third place was Tom Clough with 38 points and fourth with 35points was Stuart Burton. Ronnie Ormerod got the only two of the day to scoop a prize as good as the winner.

Ron Longworth - Seniors Organiser

Ron has organised the Seniors for many years and always ensures things run smoothly. He is a great asset to the Seniors set up and is appreciated by all.

Gwyn Robinson - Seniors Treasurer

Gwyn, another stalwart and like a terrier when chasing Senior Members for their money.

The food served at home games by Debbie and Barbara always rounds off a good day and is envied by visitors.
